Drip irrigation is a method of watering plants. In an automatic sprinkler system, a zone can be set up with drip lines.. These drip lines are designed to water extremely accurately, so the water usage is very low, and it's a very controlled method of watering plants.
Should I get drip lines installed?
It depends, really, on what setup you have in your yard! If you have flower gardens that have long-term plants, a few plants that will always be in close to the same spot, then it can be a great option. It doesn't use much water, and there's not a lot of ground that is watered where the drip line isn't. This can help keep down weeds, keep the whole garden from getting muddy, and is much quieter than sprinklers. When you have bushes, smaller trees, or larger flowers in flower beds, drip lines can be very nice to have. More water-conscious areas could consider using drip lines as well, such as when there's zero-scaped parking strips.
